Pioneer offers up to a $75 rebate for AC tune-ups.

Tune-up your air conditioner between April 1 – October 1 and receive up to a $75 rebate!

An AC system that is regularly serviced can increase its efficiency, which in turn saves money by lowering monthly energy bills.

Pioneer customers interested in participating should:​

  1. Read all program and application requirements below before submitting an application. Incomplete applications will not be approved. 
  2. Confirm you are a Pioneer customer by checking your PG&E bill. The program application requires the customer’s 10-digit ESP Customer Number and the account holder information that is listed on the PG&E bill. 
  3. Schedule a tune-up with a licensed contractor and have the tune-up performed between April 1 and October 1. To check if a contractor is licensed, customers should visit the Contractor’s State License Board. 
  4. Customers should review the invoice for the tune-up before the contractor leaves to ensure it meets the program requirements. The invoice must include:
    • Date of the AC tune-up service
    • Itemized description that a tune-up was performed
    • Itemized cost of the tune-up service only
    • Verification the tune-up service was paid in full with a $0 balance invoice or marked as PAID
    • Customers on a maintenance plan must submit an additional Payment History Report equal to or exceeding $75 worth of payment history prior to date of tune-up
  5. Submit completed application and supporting documentation by October 15th to be eligible for the tune-up rebate. Mailed in applications must be postmarked before October 15th.  

Program eligibility

  • An AC tune-up, as defined by this program, is an inspection, cleaning, and servicing of your air conditioning system. This can include cleaning and/or replacing air filters, a check of air flow, and checking evaporator and condenser coils. A tune-up does not include any repairs, parts, or services. 
  • Tune-up must be performed between April 1 and October 1.
  • Tune-ups applicable for single-family dwellings only. 
  • One AC tune-up rebate per household per program season.
  • Rebates may not exceed the cost of service. 
  • Applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis until funds are depleted.
  • Applications must be received or postmarked on or before October 15.

No, you do not have to use any specific contractor. The only requirement is that the contractor must be licensed in the State of California, and it is recommended that the ACCA Standard 4 endorsed set of inspection tasks are used for the service.

Rebate processing in total can take 6-8 weeks. Once the rebate is processed, you must deposit your check within 90 days of receiving your rebate.

Servicing an AC unit ensures that it is running efficiently and helps identify potential problems. A routinely serviced HVAC is more energy efficient, which will save you money on your energy bills, and typically lasts longer.

Yes. If you have a current maintenance agreement for your system you are eligible for the rebate. For your rebate to be approved, you must include your Payment History Report from your contractor, along with the invoice for the service completed within the program window.Â
