Pioneer offers up to a $75 rebate for AC tune-ups.

Tune-up your air conditioner between April 1 – October 1 and receive up to a $75 rebate!

An AC system that is regularly serviced can increase its efficiency, which in turn saves money by lowering monthly energy bills.

Pioneer customers interested in participating should:​

  1. Read all program and application requirements below before submitting an application. Incomplete applications will not be approved. 
  2. Confirm you are a Pioneer customer by checking your PG&E bill. The program application requires the customer’s 10-digit ESP Customer Number and the account holder information that is listed on the PG&E bill. 
  3. Schedule a tune-up with a licensed contractor and have the tune-up performed between April 1 and October 1. To check if a contractor is licensed, customers should visit the Contractor’s State License Board
  4. Customers should review the invoice for the tune-up before the contractor leaves to ensure it meets the program requirements. The invoice must include:
    • Date of the AC tune-up service
    • Itemized description that a tune-up was performed
    • Itemized cost of the tune-up service only
    • Verification the tune-up service was paid in full with a $0 balance invoice or marked as PAID
  5. Customers on a maintenance plan must submit an additional Payment History Report equal to or exceeding $75 worth of payment history prior to date of tune-up.
  6. Submit completed application and supporting documentation by October 15th to be eligible for the tune-up rebate. Mailed in applications must be postmarked before October 15th.  

Program eligibility

  • An AC tune-up, as defined by this program, is an inspection, cleaning, and servicing of your air conditioning system. This can include cleaning and/or replacing air filters, a check of air flow, and checking evaporator and condenser coils. A tune-up does not include any repairs, parts, or services. 
  • Tune-up must be performed between April 1 and October 1.
  • Tune-ups applicable for single-family dwellings only. 
  • One AC tune-up rebate per household per program season.
  • Rebates may not exceed the cost of service. 
  • Applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis until funds are depleted.
  • Applications must be received or postmarked on or before October 15.

The Pioneer Community Energy AC Tune up program was excellent. Pretty easy to get info online about the requirements, application process and to get the service done. Communication from Pioneer about the rebate process was excellent. The rebate made doing the tune up much more affordable and so this is much appreciated. I hope they continue the program each year.
I submitted the application for the current rebate program. While doing so, I inadvertently entered the wrong date for the service of my HVAC. I was contacted by Pioneer and asked to provide the correct date that the service was done. Because of a number of health issues, I just wasn’t able to get to that and got a follow up email from them once again requesting the information. After telling them that I just wasn’t able to get the required information and related paperwork, I’d just better forget the rebate. To my utter surprise, they contacted my HVAC repairman and got everything cleared up for me and now I’m getting the rebate. What a surprise. Actual customer service. I am stunned that they helped me. I can’t thank you enough.
The Pioneer AC Tune-Up Rebate program is great! Pioneer has made it very simple to get up to $75.00 back when you have a AC Tune-Up in one calendar year during the time of May to October. I had my AC tune-up done on May 15th and submitted my application and proof of the service online. Instantly I received an email from the Pioneer program thanking me for submitting my application and once approved I would receive another email. Within 4 days I received an approval email and detailing how long it will take to receive my rebate and that I have 90 days to deposit my rebate. The program is simple and quick from start to finish. The pioneer customer service for the program is very professional and helpful. I recommend all Pioneer customers to take advantage of this program, plus it puts some money back in our pockets with the high power rates we have to endure now. Thank you Pioneer for the program and the simplicity of it.

After I made a mistake applying for the credit from an A/C tune up, I got an immediate call back from Kelly in their customer support who took many minutes to get all the right info inputted so I could move ahead to get my $75. We are customers of Pioneer Community Energy. Like virtually all PG&E customers, our energy bills are out of control. We have no kids at our house and we own a whole house fan. This summer we have only used our air conditioner only 1 day!!! And still, our bill averages over $550! So, we were thrilled to hear that Pioneer was offering a $75 “Pioneer AC Tune/Up Rebate.” We submitted the necessary paperwork and got a email quite quickly from Steve Lund of Pioneer. His first email said that it looked like he had everything he needed and would email us when it was finalized… The next day he sent another email saying it was approved and the check was in the mail… It was a very easy, quick, and painless process.
