Along with competitive electricity rates, Pioneer is implementing programs that support our customers’ energy needs and reflect input from our Community Advisory Committee.

GridGen

Pioneer supports commercial customers who want to power their business with the electricity they generate. Through Pioneer’s GridGen program, commercial customers can install solar and storage to their business without taking on the costs of installation and maintenance.

Ice Energy

Pioneer is partnering with Ice Energy to offer commercial customers Ice BearTM energy storage systems. The Ice Bear creates and stores ice when energy rates are low, then uses the ice to cool the building when energy rates are highest. Each system can save customers up to $3,500 a year in energy costs.

Local Feed-In Tariff (FIT)

Pioneer’s Local-FIT program provides incentives for the development of biomass and run-of-the-river hydro generation facilities in our service territory. In addition to reinvesting in the communities we serve, these generation types provide many local benefits, such as addressing the specific needs of Pioneer’s service areas.

Hourly Flex Pricing Pilot

Hourly Flex Pricing is a pilot program that offers customers a way to lower energy costs while promoting a more reliable grid and cleaner energy. Agriculture customers can participate in the program by scheduling irrigation to operate during non-peak hours.

Bioenergy Market Adjusting Tariff (BioMAT)

The Bioenergy Market Adjusting Tariff (BioMAT) program was created by Senate Bill 1122. Operating under a California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) approved tariff, participating generators can enter into a standard contract with Pioneer at a price set by a market-based mechanism.
